WHY I'M RUNNING

I'm Ready To Work For You

I’ve had the privilege of living in Birmingham for 35 years with my husband, Chris. Our son received a great education in the Birmingham Public Schools. I’ve been honored to serve on the Parks and Recreation Board for fifteen years, working to protect and improve our parks and recreational facilities.

I love Birmingham. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I value our welcoming neighborhoods and tree-lined streets, and our neighborhood picnics and holiday celebrations.  We enjoy great parks with a variety of features and activities for families. We are fortunate to have excellent Police and Fire Departments to protect our community. We have an appealing downtown that is the envy of many, where families can walk to the library, or visit Shain Park to meet friends, sit by the fountain, or enjoy a concert. We can enjoy Art Fairs, the Farmers Market, seasonal celebrations, and beautiful wintertime decorations.

All of these things contribute to our feeling of community and to the quality of life Birmingham residents enjoy. I care deeply about our community and want to make it work better for all of us.

We’ve made great improvements at Barnum, Booth, and Shain, and Quarton Lake Parks, and renovations of the ballfields at Kenning Park are underway. But we can do more to upgrade our remaining parks, and to replace outdated play structures.  We need to improve services and activities for seniors so that they have the resources they need.  We need to work together to develop sensible solutions for our parking, traffic, and infrastructure challenges. We deserve governance that is transparent, responsive, accountable, and respectful.

I believe that our quality of life and community prosperity depend on strong neighborhoods, excellent schools, great services, robust community organizations, and a vibrant downtown.

I believe that we can work together for a Birmingham that puts neighborhoods first while remaining a welcoming place for those who work and play here.  I’m ready to work for you, and I’d be honored if you’d join me on this journey!
